Abstract
In this study, we present 6 cases of the patients with dual disability of hemiplegia and lower extremity amputation, reporting on their training, the prescription of the prosthesis and their life after discharge.
The main purpose of the training was to acquire the standing balance, which was so poor because of the dual disability. As for the prescription of the prosthesis, the stability and the convenience of handling by themselves were regarded most important. We also set the alignment considering the appearance of the flexor synagy movement.
Ambulation level was as follows ; 2 were independent, 2 limited, and 2 not ambulatory. Regardless of the ambulation level, all patients continued the care of the stump and maintained the same level of the activity of locomotion as that at their discharge.
