Abstract

In physiotherapy, it is important to attempt to improve skills. The issue of how to perform exercise without fatigue is a factor involved in improvement of skills. However, the mechanism of fatigue is not clear. Therefore, it is a problem when a physiotherapy program is planned. Thus, it is important to clarify the mechanism of fatigue. In this review, the cause of fatigue was clarified from the research of Hill et al. that forms the basis of the peripheral fatigue model, the established theory of the mechanism of fatigue, and the limits of the peripheral fatigue model are suggested by the latest research. We introduce a new mechanism of fatigue derived from brain science, and introduce the application of the new mechanism of fatigue to physiotherapy.
