Abstract
In recent years, a better understanding of the biology of renal cell carcinoma has allowed a more aggresive approach to resection of the tumor and a coexisting tumor thrombus. The suprahepatic extension of tumor thrombus, however, has difficulties in the surgical treatment. We report a 58-year-old man who had left renal cell carcinoma with tumor thrombus extending into suprahepatic vena cava inferior and received the curative operation using cardiopulmonary bypass. The disease accompaning tumor thrombus in vena cava inferior was also reviewed and discussed.
