Urbanization in Japan has in recent years had considerable implications for the nature environment. In the Inba Marsh Basin, urbanization has had negative repercussions for the water environment. The Chiba prefectural government has been taking action for the regeneration of the Inba Marsh Basin.
The purpose of this study is to facilitate improvements to the Inba marsh basin. The study analyzed factors for water quality deterioration associated with changes in the water cycle mechanism in the Inba Marsh Basin based on local observed data. As a result of the analysis, the inflow of water from the Tone River, reconstruction from spring water and stored rainwater were identified as potential strategies for improvement. A model was constructed to analyze the effects of the improvements quantitatively.
