Sediment yield from upper watershed of dam is dependent on the watershed landscapes such as surficial geology, land cover and geography. According to principal component analyses with the landscape variables (through Geographical Information System) at 11 dam watersheds located in the Ise Bay basin, central area of Japan, they were categorized to three groups significantly characterized by their lithologic composition. Furthermore, by using annual inflow discharges and annual rate of sediment deposition into the reservoirs, evaluations of sediment yields from the upper watersheds of dams were presented for the each group and were approximately supported with some bed material load formulae developed in the conventional hydraulic studies.
