The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is pursuing for enhanced efficiency of the river maintenance, considering the advancement from a multidirectional perspective and, furthermore for visual inspection,it is promoting the active utilization of new technologies and its technical characteristics.In this paper, we report the study results for an efficient improvement of the river management by utilizing Mobile Mapping System (MMS). Additionally, the National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management, Hokkaido Regional Development Bureau and the eight Regional Development Bureaus of the whole country conducted this study from 2011 to 2016.
