An educational tool using VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality) is useful to understand the river basin environment in bird’s-eye view. In this study, we developed an educational tool and content using MR (mixed reality). The educational content contains visualization images for elevation, land use, water quality and presence/absence of fishes in four river basins. MR enable to overlay these visualization results on three-dimensional computational graphic of river basins, and these objects can move freely in the real space.
The questionnaire survey for college students was conducted in order to compare the effectiveness of the educational tool using MR with AR. It revealed that the MR visualization helps people to understand the environment of river basin more deeply than the AR.
