The slips of a river levee caused only by rain have been taken place in several sites in Japan, such as the Chikugo-River in 2015. This research focused on the mechanism of the slips caused by rainfall on the slope and rainwater drainage from the crest pavement. A series of model experiments, which used a rainfall machine and a rainwater drainage genarator, were conducted to observe the mechanism. As the results of the experiments, it has been clarified the influence of the rainfall on the slope is relatively low compared to the rainwater darainage from the crest pavement. In addition to that, the size of slips mostly depend on the amount of the rainwater drainage.
