Abstract

The present study is aimed at developing an efficient and energy-saving technique for water intake. The basic idea is to use a multi-stage overhanging structure to take sufficient water while bypassing sediments and other floating substances. This technique can be used for small-scale, or micro hydropower systems, which has been receiving renewed attention from both environmental and energy development perspectives. It runs without electricity and is nearly maintenance-free.
