In English‒spoken countries, including the United States, Canada, and Australia, the field of digital forensics is seen as a part of activities of records management and archives. On the other hand, in Japan, this field is recognized mainly as a part of activities of law enforcement, police, legal issues, information security, and so forth. This article is a review of thoughts on and activities of digital forensics from comparative perspectives, based on literature review and the authorʼs experience at the conference of the Society of American Archivists.
