In the course of studies of concentration processes a concentrability function of the first order has been introduced in 1962. Two types of equations have been derived from the fundamental equation for roughing and/or scavenging circuits and for the cleaning circuit. Boundary conditions for these equations have been scrutinized. It has been verified that most of the performances of plant operations can be reasonably analyzed in terms of equations for cleaning circuits, because of the concentration schemes being accompanied with cleaning circuits, because of the concentration schemes being accompanied with cleaning circuit of some type or other. In conclusion, it has been possible to predict or estimate the metallurgical performance in question by selecting a proper value of concentrability coefficient for any feed grade of the ore to be concentrated and to analyze that of the plant operation for its improvement.
