In recent years, ICT, such as tablet devices, has been introduced into language education in Japan, and as part of this, AI-based English-speaking applications are increasing. This study focuses on the future usefulness of AI speaking applications in English language education in Japan and discusses Willingness to Communicate (hereafter referred to as WTC) in second language (L2) from an in-ternational perspective. There have been many studies on WTC in L2, and there have been many studies on WTC among Japanese learners of English. However, there have been no comparative studies of WTC between South Korean and Japanese in Asian countries when speaking English. In this paper, we analyze the relationship between WTC and factors associated with second language anxiety when speaking a second language among native Japanese and South Korean speakers who have similar cultural backgrounds to those of Japan and Korea. The results suggest that which viewpoints are important when speaking a second language may have an influence.
