1. Distribution of trimethylamine oxide (TMO) were analyzed on various tissues and organs in freshwater fish, crucian carp (Carassius carassius), largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), eel (Anguilla japonica), rainbow trout (Salmo gairdnerii) and guppy (Poecilia reticulata), and in seawater fish, mackerel (Trachurus japonicus), yellowtail (Seriola quinqueradiata) and tuna (Thunnus thynnus). 2. Trimethylamine (TMA) and TMO were a little presented in freshwater fish, crucian carp, largemouth bass and eel, but were more presented in seawater fish, mackerel, yellowtail and tuna, than freshwater fish. 3. There were more TMO in liver and kidney and spleen, of many tissues and organs. 4. Eel and guppy were adapted to seawater from freshwater. In the result of analysis, TMO increased in seawater environment than in freshwater environment.
