The authors developed two coil spring type sugar cane stripping machines and the field performance tests were carried out.
A-type machine has three swinging coil spring stripping rolls, while B-type machine has three rubber fixed coil spring stripping rolls. The results obtained were as follows:
1) The stripping performance of A-type was; detrash percent 91.6-97.2%, trash percent 0.9-0.8%, cane loss 1.2-3.2% and working efficiency 714-1148kg/man-hr. The stripping performance of B-type was; 92.0-98.5%, 0.9-0.5%, 2.2-7.0%, 752-1143kg/man-hr.
2) Detrash percent and trash percent of A-type were inferior slightly compared with B-type, while cane loss of A-type was one halffold compared with B-type. Working efficiency was similar both two types.
3) The stalk damage was not observed both two types in any case, however, the durability of stripping materials of A-type (12 hours) was excellent compared with B-type (2 hours), because B-type coil spring was attached fixedly to rubber base of the roll. A-type machine was more practical.
4) The suitable revolution per minute of stripping roll and feeding roll of A-type leaf-stripping machine was 450-650rpm (9.42-13.61m/sec) and 25-35rpm (0.21-0.29m/sec).
