A study has been made of the glycopeptide and glycosaminoglycan in the normal human abdominal wall. Both the hexose and uronic acid contents were highest in the skin, and values were lowest in the muscle. Cellulose acetate strip electrophoresis of concentrates revealed the presence of three alcian blue positive fractions in every case, numbered in order of increasing electrophoretic mobility, fraction I, II and III. The relative proportions of the fraction I was almost equal to that of fraction III in the skin as well as in the adipose tissue. Whereas the proportion of the fraction I was highest in the muscle, and that of fraction III was lowest in the fascia.
