Comparison of Classic Characters by Writing Brush Based on Analysis of Density Distribution

Abstract

It has been disputed whether "Ogawabon-Shinsousenjimon" was an originally written work or a work made by unknown copying technique, "transparency copy". One of factors for the judgement is the strength of stroke and press. In this paper, through the examination of the gray value distribution with the image processing of character's images, we compare characters of "Ogawabon-Shinsousenjimon" with those of two old works; one is known as an originally written work and the other is known that it was written by "transparency copy".
