Abstract
We study deadlock avoidance in a flexible manufacturing system (FMS) that consists of two machines and a robot. Yalcin and Boucher have presented an automata based approach for synthesizing a deadlock avoidance supervisor through an example. We follow their approach and present a systematic procedure to synthesize a deadlock avoidance supervisor by using the discrete event system theory.
