Abstract
In this paper, we extract the road from color aerial images using active contour model based on region features, and propose the method of automatic generation of the initial contour.To correct the road, we apply a polynomial curve fitting to the extraction contour.The road in the image of a residential area in suburb was extracted successfully as a result.
