Abstract
Intracranial aneurysms are extremely uncommon in the pediatric population. Their epidemiology is poorly understood and certain features, including their location, morphology and presentation, make them unique compared with their adult counterparts. In this report, we present the case of a 6-year-old boy with basilar aneurysm admitted to our hospital. Digital subtraction angiography and three-dimensional CT angiography revealed a giant (26-mm) basilar aneurysm located in the prepontine cistern. Clipping of the aneurysm was performed successfully. This report also includes a thorough review of the literature on pediatric giant aneurysm.
Continuous follow-up is essential for this patient group.
