Complete neck clipping has been a reliable and widely used treatment for ruptured cerebral aneurysms. However, six cases of reruptured clipped aneurysms have been reported in the literature. We experienced a case of reruptured clipped aneurysm which occurred after ten years of follow-up. We have collected data on seven such cases including our own.
In three of these cases silver clips had been used and in another three cases Heifetz clips had been used. These reports suggest that the type of clip may play some role in the re-growth of aneurysms.
In this report, we also discuss the usefulness of fibrin-glue-soaked oxycel for coating the reruptured clipped aneurysm when neck clipping has failed.
