The interacting systems of the azuki bean weevil, Callosobruchus chinensis (L) and its parasitic wasp, Anisopteromalus calandrae (Howard) were kept for many generations, begun with 20 pairs of parasite, under the controlled condition of temperature (30℃) and relative humidity (70%) (OKAMOTO, 1971). In coexisting systems, the living adult number of both species was examined daily during two consecutive generations of the 33rd and 34th. Considering from the result that the living duration of the parasite was at a fixed site of the living duration of the host, the life cycles of both species were synchronizing. While, some of the systems which were begun with one pair of parasite became destroyed in the 4th generation. For understanding these consequence, the relationship between the developmental duration of the parasite and the developmental stage of the host was examined. The duration of development was examined by putting the parasite eggs on each stage of the exposed host, its duration was 13 days. The pre-oviposition period of the parasite was examined, giving the exposed 4th instar larva of the host, its duration was one day, regardless of the host stage on which the parasite adult developed. But, in a few parasites which developed on the 2nd instar larva of the host or on the 3rd instar larva, the preoviposition period was 6-7 days or 3-4 days (Fig. 6) respectively. It can be considered that this variation of the duration of the pre-imaginal stage helps the coexience of both species.
