The natural forest vegetation has already been exploited in many ways but the original states can be reconstructed as a result of this study. I. Order : Camellietalia japonicae, 1. Alliance : Shiion sieboldii, 1) Ass. Symploco lucidae-Shiietum cuspidatae, 2) Ass. Sakakio-Cyclobalanopsetum stenophyllae, A. Subass. distylietosum, a) Cyclobalanopsis paucidentata-Variant, II. Order : Tsugetalia sieboldii, 2. Alliance : Tsugion sieboldii, 3) Ass. Illicio-Abietum firmae, B. Subass. cyclobalanopsetosum acutae, 4) Ass. Symploco-Tsugetum sieboldii, III. Order : Saso-Fagetalia crenatae, 3. Alliance : Fagion crenatae, 5) Ass. Sasamorpho-Fagetum crenatae, 6) Ass. Rhododendro metternichii-Fagetum crenatae, IV. Order : Pinetalia pentaphyllae, 4. Alliance : Chamaecyparion obtusae, 7) Ass. Rhododendro-Chamaecyparetum obtusae. The associations 1)-6) are zonal communities developing upward in the above-mentioned order. Association 7 is an azonal one, which Sciadopitys verticillata naturally occupies. The zonal communities are only apparently distributed by altitude, but are closely related to temperature. The Rhododendro-Chamaecyparetum obtusae might be a residual stand, which has taken refuge from competition on exposed rocks.
