Extraction of Curved Shape Types for Tight-Fitting Bodice Patterns of Young Women and Men Using Concentrated Gaussian Curvature

Abstract
The curved shape of the combined female and male tight-fitting bodice patterns (hereinafter referred to as T-pattern, n=354) are categorized using “Concentrated Gaussian Curvature by angle (Kc=2π-θ) ”. That is, from the four main types of curved shaped T-patterns, we were able to extract differences and common features of both sexes' T-pattern shape regardless of size. Each type is as follows:
- sloping shoulder with small bust and back side darts type includes approximately half of the male T-patterns,
- standard shoulder slope with the bust and back side darts type includes 17% of both sexes' T-pattern,
- standard shoulder slope with large bust and back side darts type includes approximately 40% of the female T-patterns, and
- square shoulder with standard bust and back side darts type includes 35% of both sexes' T-patterns.
We will use these findings to establish simple, useful, and common garment pattern shape types in future.
