A total amount of the snow drift during a winter is one of the important elements for the design of the facilities which protect railroads and highways from the snowstrom. It was obtained experimentally from the accumulation of snow around the snow-storm prevention forest and from the vertical distribution of drifting snow during the snow-storm, both of which were measured in author's Institute during past few years. On the other hand, the quantity of drifting snow was calculated according to the various formula, being expressed as the function of wind velocity over the snow cover. Comparison of measured values with calculated ones showed that the formula q=cv3 (, where c takes numerical value 0.0139, measuring q and v with g/cm. min. and m/sec. units respectively, ) which was suggested in Soviet Union is satisfactory for estimating the total amount of snow drift from the records of the wind velocity.
