Anodized aluminum was electrolytically colored in a nickel sulfate-boric acid mixed bath by direct current. Impedance of the colored film was measured in the coloring bath. Impedance of the colored film depended upon the coloring voltage and coloring time. After electrolytic coloring, the impedance of the oxide film increased. This increase is due to the change of impedance of barrier layer and impedance of electrodeposited material. When colored film was dipped in nitric acid, the oxide film was decolorized and impedance of the oxide film decreased.
