The effect of crystalline forms of polyvinyhdene fluoride (PVDF) on PVDF resin coated steel sheet bendability was investigated. Bendability was lowered at higher cooling temperatures or by heating. Infrared spectrum measurement showed that the α crystalline PVDF increased and a crystalline PVDF decreased at higher cooling water temperatures. In contrast, both α and β crystalline PVDF were increased by heating. The relationship between bendability and crystalline PVDF was determined by multiple regression analysis. Results indicated that α crystalline was a stronger factor than β crystalline in the deterioration of the bendability. The elongation of α and β crystalline clear films were measured. β crystalline has approximately eight times as much elongation percentage as α crystalline.
