Abstract
Displacement ventilation can create better indoor air quality than conventional mixing ventilation and can also save energy. In cold climates, the heat loss at the perimeter zone may cause a cold draught along the window. This may disturb the displacement ventilation air flow and may cause uncomfortable draught feeling for the people in the room. In this paper, three types of the perimeter system are compared by experiments and CFD simulations. In Case 1, convectors were not installed in the perimeter. In Case 2, convectors were installed beside the single glass window. In addition, the applicabily of the air exhaust system through double-glass window was examined under cooling condition in Case 3. The CFD simulations were carried out with the same conditions as the experiments.
