If snow and ice can be kept and utilized as cooling sources for space cooling and food storage, they will have possibility of energy conservation and CO_2 reduction. Thermal utilizations of snow and ice have been noticeable since the Law Concerning Special Measures to Promote the Use of New Energy was amended to add the use of them. This paper presents ice container system for food storage and a field experiment on characteristics of the ice-making capacity and the thermal environment of a storage room.
