The large-scale buildings for indoor environments are managed under the "Low for Maintenance of Sanitation in Buildings (established in 1970)" in Japan. Although the buildings are managed on the indoor environmental standard, the present status of the management for the buildings of the outside for the law are not clear, for example, smaller than 3000m2 total floor area of office buildings. This study carried out measuring indoor particulate matter, volatile organic compounds (VOC) both in large-scale office buildings and small-scale ones, and investigated the differences of indoor air quality. As a result, the particle matter concentrations and VOC concentration for the small-scale office indoor air were relatively higher level than larger-scale ones. It became clear that the air exchange rates and filter efficiencies in the HVAC systems for small-scale buildings could be affect on indoor environment.
