The modeling of diffuser is important for the numerical simulation of airflow in a room with wall-mounted split type air-conditioner. In the past studies, the swing vanes of diffuser (the left-right louvers and the up-down flaps) tend to be neglected. In this study, air volume measurements were carried out to find that although the main function of these vanes is to change air flow direction, a change in angle can also affect pressure loss characteristics of the line fan and cause the decreasing air volume. Turbulence and visualization measurements also showed that the air velocity diffusion of outflow was very completed so that detailed modeling would be needed.
