Polarogram of the solution of potassium ethyl xanthate in 0.09 nKCl shows 2-step wave with a half-wave potential of-0.255 volt vs. the saturated calomel electrode, which is proportional in overall wave height to the concentration of potassium ethyl xanthate in the range of 0.5-2.0rnmol. Half-wave potential and diffusion current are independent on pH and the concentration of the supporting electrolyte. The wave is due to the oxidation of potassium ethyl xanthate to di-xanthogen.
