The extraction of ilmenite-hematite series minerals from magnetic concentrate and tailing of magnetite sand was investigated by the flotation procedure using amine as a collector.
It was found that when sulfate ion was contained in the solution, ilmenite and hematite were activated in the acidic circuit while other minerals contained in magnetite sand raw ore remained unaffected. Succeedingly the amine flotation was performed using sulfuric acid as a modifier with the aim of extracting magnetic ilmenitehematite series minerals in the magnetic concentrate of magnetite sand and expected results were obtained. Further, the flotation of nonmagnetic ilmenite in the waste sand was undertaken in the same way and we obtained the ilmenite concentrate with the content above 40% of TiO2.
