This paper deals with the process of study on various methods and techniques of measurement of the defects or thickness of material of complex composition such as concrete. The measurement is done by the ultra-sonic flow detector which utilizes the Ni-wire driver employing the forced magne tostriction as the source of ultra-sonic wave and produces the ulrta-sonic wave having the short single pulse of low frequency. First given are the sample manufacture of the ultra-sonic flow detector with the laminated nickel plate resonator and actual measurement by using it. This detector is mainly for the above-mentioned properties of such material as concrete. Next given are the theoretical treat ment on the driving mechanism of Ni-wire driver and the results of actual measurement with this equipment.
