Electronic and pneumatic flow control systems are compared each other in order to obtain quick response; dynamic characteristic of commercialized instruments is determined and how signal conduits, positioners etc. affect the characteristic is examined too. Compared with pneumatic system, electronic system yields larger phase lag and does not always offer better response to outer disturbances. At the same time, it proves that, using a pilot type control valve developed by the author, a flow control system of which 95% response time is as quick as 0.3 sec can be realized.
