Facilities and calibration techniques for infrared radiation thermometry in the low temperature range have been developed at the NMIJ. The estimated uncertainties (k = 2) of the radiance temperature of the reference blackbody sources are better than 60 mK in the temperature range from -20 °C to 160 °C. A compact infrared radiation thermometer has been developed as a transfer instrument. The uncertainty of calibration of the industrial standard blackbodies has been estimated to be smaller than 0.1 °C.
