A new method for the measurement of gas temperature distribution along a desired line is proposed.
A probing wave with contineous small amplitude of relatively high frequency is propagated along the line and the pumping wave with impulsive and high pressure is emitted from the opposite direction. Then the temperature of the gas at each point on the line is transformed into the phase change of the probing wave sequentially along with the propagation of the pumping wave due to the nonlinear effect generated by the pumping wave. The phase demodulation and proper signal processings to get the temperature distribution are shown. The effect of flow is also eliminated in the system.
The principle, details of the system construction and some experimental results are presented. The results clearly show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
