The butterfly specimens preserved at Shodoshima High School, Kagawa Prefecture, were donated to The Kagawa University Museum when the high school closed. The butterfly specimens were collected between 1971 and 1986 by the high school students belonging to “the biology club” in the high school. In total 527 specimens belonging to 69 species form part of the collection, of which 374 specimens representating 67 species have a label with the collection data (at least the name of the locality and date of collection). We made a list of specimens that have a collection label. All but four specimens were collected from Shodoshima. There were no insect-damaged specimens at all. The collection includes 16 specimens of two species listed as endangered on the Red List of the Ministry of the Environment, and 79 specimens belonging to 16 species are listed as endangered on the Red List of Kagawa Prefecture. Many specimens of common species are also included. Overall, this collection seems to be a good representation of the butterfly fauna of Shodoshima at that time.
