This paper examines the self-evaluation of the 'International Tour Guide' internship by international exchange students. The total of eight exchange students from China, Korea, Germany, Australia, and Poland introduced as guides the local historical museum which has exhibited the development of ship building technology in the region and the history of trade and diplomacy of Japan with foreign countries. In the internship practicum, through their cooperation with the local city hall officials and local power actors, international student interns had opportunity to practically apply their language sikills and their specialized knowledge on local history to their professional works as guides. This international experiential learning provided international students with new opportunities to acquire situated knowledge, to develop leadership skills to work with local people in Japan, and to examine their future career.
