Abstract

A 67-year-old woman presented with a 7 × 7 cm black-colored tumor on the skin on the inferior-lateral aspect of the right breast. During a systemic examination, a 2-cm diameter tumor was found in the upper lobe of the right lung. Two months after the initial visit, the patient underwent a right upper lobectomy with regional lymph node dissection ; a month later, she underwent a malignant melanoma resection with a right axillary sentinel lymph node biopsy. The lung cancer was staged as pT1bN0M0, stage ⅠA2. The malignant melanoma, staged as pT4aN1M0, stage ⅢC, was 5 mm in thickness and had metastasized to a lymph node. Pembrolizumab was administered as post-operative chemotherapy for one year. No tumor recurrence was noted five years post-surgery, highlighting the importance of consideringtumor depth and the presence of metastases when determining the order of treatment during post-operative therapy.[Skin Cancer (Japan) 2024 ; 39 : 266-269]
