Abstract
There is no effective standard treatment for liver metastasis of malignant melanoma. This paper reports a case of a 69-year-old male patient with multiple liver, bone and lymph node metastases from a rectal malignant melanoma. By performing four courses of systemic chemotherapy, the growth of these metastasic lesions was mostly suppressed. However, since multiple liver metastases became enlarged, we performed transcatheter arterial infusion of cisplatin and epirubicin hydrochloride and transcatheter hepatic arterial embolization with Lipiodol and gelatin sponge. This chemoembolization showed a partial suppressive effect on the liver metastases, but the effect was temporary, [Skin Cancer (Japan) 2006; 21: 141-145]
