A case of eccrine porocarcinoma is reported. An 89-year-old woman had a pigmented tumor with ulceration and crust on her left medial crural region, which had enlarged up to 2cm in diameter during two years. Histologically, the tumor composed of two types of atypical cells, one with dark nucleus and the other with clear nucleus, which showed tubular structure in part. Cytoplasm of the tumor cells contained PAS-positive and diastase-sensitive granules. These findings were compatible with eccrine porocarcinoma.
Taking into account the patient's age, we chose combination therapy of radiation with hyperthermia. She received a cource of 10MeV electoron irradiation in a total dose of 60 Gy. Hyperthermia was given one time a week for 5 weeks. After the end of the treatment, the tumor disappeared clinically and the biopsy specimen showed inflammatory cell infiltrate taking place of tumor cells. It is supposed that this combination therapy is beneficial for carcinoma of eccrine glands as well as other skin tumors.
