Abstract
A 29-year-old female, who had a past history of anaphylactic reactions to local anesthesia at the ages of 26 and 29, had visited our clinic for drug allergy testing. Skin testing was positive for lidocaine hydrochloride and mepivacaine hydrochloride and negative for methylparaben, procaine hydrochloride, ethyl aminobenzoic acid and dibucaine hydrochloride. From these results, the diagnosis of anaphylaxis to lidocaine was made. Immediate allergy to lidocaine hydrochloride is rare, although we sometimes experience anaphylaxis-like reactions during local anesthesia. Skin Research, 11: 409-412, 2012
