Abstract
A clinical study was performed to compare the therapeutic effects of patients with decubitus by using three ointments: Reflap, povidone iodine sugar (PIS) and a combination of both ingredients.
The utility of the ointments was determined by evaluating their efficacy and side effects.
The results are as followings:
1) The final global utility of Reflap, PIS and the combination of the two were 100%, 33.5% and 50% respectively.
2) On the 4th week after initiation of treatment, the combination of the ointments facilitated growth of normal granulation tissue and epidermization in the region of the ulcer.
The experiment shows conclusively that employing a combination of the 2 ointments during the early stages of treatment is an excellent treatment of decubitus.
