This paper summarizes the JSLS 2022 symposium “Future Outlook of CHILDES” and reports a case study using CHILDES that could not be presented due to time constraints. First, Otsuka (2022) introduces a project to build a child language corpus of Tongan (Polynesian) to increase VSO language data, which is only included in CHILDES by 10%. Next, we introduce that Otaki (2022) is working on creating and publishing a corpus of naturalistic production by a child acquiring Kaqchikel as his native language to add VOS language data not included in CHILDES. Then, we introduce a case study using CHILDES by Dansako (2022). Additionally, we also introduce another case study on the acquisition of syntactic verb-verb compounds that could not be presented due to time constraints. It also shows that language acquisition research using CHILDES has the potential to continue contributing to the development of language research.
