Abstract
Kanemi-Yusho case revealed in 1968 is one of the most serious food poisoning in Japan. The case that was caused by cooking oil contaminated with PCB and dioxins has put the victims under the multiple sufferings up to the present. However, the case has been hardly examined from the point of STS studies. This paper demonstrates the possibility that the substantial problems with respect to the accident investigations can be spotted even from the limited resources. In addition, the paper suggests the close relationship between the lack of the integrated investigations and the institutional shortage regarding the accident investigation itself. In conclusion, some proposals are made about the public needs to discuss the institutional matter as to the accident investigation as well as the public needs and means to reserve the original documents and samples for further research on the major accident such as Kanemi-Yusho case.
