Heavy-ion fusion reactions with proton rich and neutron rich isotopes

We discuss the prediction of the effect of the difference between the charge and matter deformations on heavy-ion fusion reactions induced by proton rich and neutron rich unstable nuclei. We also show that the effect of the different deformations are opposite to each other for proton rich and neutron rich nuclei. We analyze the fusion reaction of ^<19>Na + ^<208>Pb and ^<37>Na + ^<208> Pb at sub-barrier energies.
