This paper aims to analyze the Japanese type of industrial organization sociologically. In the organizational entity two component factors have been generally found; the formal organization and the human group. As for the former, the concept of "organization" which has been loosely used in the recent organization research must be conceptualized precisely. As for the latter, "Informal Organization" introduced by Human Relations Approach is in need of redefining.
In consequence of these examinations, two factors in "Dual Structure" should by termed "Utilitarian Mechanism" (U) and "Collectirrty" (C) respectively. Thus "U - C Model" is proposed in this paper. This model is applied to the analysis of industrial organization on the basis of A. Etzioni's theory.
Compared to European and American society where U is dominant, C is a ruling factor in the case of Japanese society because Japanese society would not welcome utilitarianism. Japanese society gets acclimatized to G. Simmel's "Individualism" (eigentiimliche Form des Individualismus).
