Abstract
We have cultivated about 40 Healthcare Information Technologists (HITs), certified by Japan Association for Medical Informatics, who understand both fields of healthcare and information technology at our hospital, so far. We have made up the IT project team constructed by HITs and developed their competencies for implementing healthcare information systems. To convey user's requirements from the planning process to the downstream exactly, we have had some short courses to learn some knowledge-based standards for IT projects, e.g. BSC (Balanced Scorecard), PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge), UML (Unified Modeling Language) etc. On the other hand, Healthcare Information Systems are widely ranged and complicated, PMO (Project Management Office) is needed for running the project smoothly. CCB (Change Control Board) is also necessary to control several Change Requirements coming up during the IT project. HITs of the IT project team have been well cultivated so that several kinds of qualification holders have been developed, e.g. MBA (Master of Business Administrator), PMP (Project Management Professional), UML professional etc. Active contributions of HITs were seen at the actual project of our hospital healthcare information systems implementation.
