The aim of this research was to find any sorts of differences in physical and ability mismatch between the winning teams and losing teams in the London 2012 Summer Olympics men’ s basketball game. First, we separated teams into the 12 teams which participated in the final match, and the 70 teams which weren’ t able to participate in the final match. Then we researched the heights, positions, and stats by looking at the London Olympics official website. We classified the data by height and position and made a comparison. As a result, we found that the winning team group had greater height than the losing team group, especially among guards and forwards. Also, from looking at the stats, we found that the winning team group had a higher value for the forwards than the losing team group. Therefore, we suggest that losing teams should use 190cm-199cm height players for guards, and 200cm-209cm height players for forwards in order to improve the stats of forward players and to be able to better compete with the winning teams.
