Search for X-ray Natural Circular Dichroism in a Charge-Ordered Prototype Cuprate Superconductor La_1.875Ba_0.125CuO₄

Abstract

Recent developments point to a common, broken chiral symmetry nature of the charge orders in high-Tc cuprate superconductors. We have performed a temperature- and angle-dependent x-ray circular dichroism study on the charge-ordered prototype system La_1.875Ba_0.125CuO₄ near the Cu K-edge. We found preliminary evidence for a broken chiral symmetry of the charge order in this system.
